Back to liiiife, back to reality

I hate coming home after an awesome vacation. Especially when you come home to a bunch of crap. To do list:
-read a bunch for class tonight

-Border's for books for a paper

-call Bank of America and tell them to give me my money back

-try to figure out how I'm going to pay my bills when my bank acct is -$234

-outline a paper that's due Wednesday

-read a bunch and study for a midterm for the same class

-prepare for divorce court. again.

I am so sick of being overwhelmed and frustrated. I feel like I'm always 2 steps behind.

Friday, Mike and I went to court for our divorce. I met him and his aunt there, who is a lawyer and was coming in to ask us the questions that need to be asked and go on record. She went over all of them with me, and I felt prepared enough to answer them (some were littered with legal jargon, but she explained). The courthouse was awful- TONS of people, many undesirables, $12 for parking. bleh. We went into the courtroom and sat down- there were probably 30 other people in there waiting for their hearing. They called us up, I sat in at one table, and Mike sat up on the stand while his aunt started asking him the questions. The judge asked if she was representing Mike, and she said yes, but in the papers, he wrote that he was representing himself as was I, and then the judge took the papers I got in the mail, and was like,"You didn't have a sheriff serve these papers??" So he got pissed and Mike's aunt said that she'd been involved in plenty of cases where they had been sent by mail, including her own divorce, and the judge said it wasn't okay, and that we'd have to come back. So we had the sheriff serve me the papers in the hall, and came back in, but really it's supposed to be 20 days from service when you go to court, and he wanted us to come back. So we have to go back on March 23rd. In retrospect, I think he was trying to act in my best interest, as from his vantage point, it looked like they were trying to pull one over on me. I hope it doesn't get all fucked up next time. I'm wondering if I should get a lawyer? Like I can fucking afford it. But just so this goes more smoothly next time... I dunno. I just want it to be over and done with, as does he. His aunt thought for sure it was just going to get sent to the magistrate and we weren't going to have to appear in the courtroom. THe courtroom was super intimidating, as was the judge. I hope we don't have him next time.

So after that, I came home a little defeated, and packed for our NY weekend. We drove to Stamford and took the train into Grand Central and walked the 20something blocks to the hotel. It was pretty warm out, but rainy. Our hotel was great tho! Super nice, comfy bed, clean, and in a great location. We walked to this gourmet vegan restaurant for dinner called Blossom on 9th Ave, between 21st and 22nd. It was DELICIOUS! A little expensive, but so worth it. We had carrot ginger soup, caesar salad, port wine seitan w/ mashed potato, baby spinach risotto, and cheesecake. SO GOOD. We noticed a line out the door of this place across the street and went over to check it out- it was the cutest fucking bakery I've ever seen!! We ended up going back on Sunday. We went back to our hotel after dinner, watched some tv, and passed out. Saturday, we got up and walked to Brooklyn Bagel a couple blocks away. I love a good bagel. And we had challah french toast!!! Not as good as the Elephant... but good. On our walk back to the hotel, we stopped in a bunch of antique stores and at a flea market. Tons of fun, cool stuff, but we didn't buy anything. We did, however, meet the cutest little rat terrier named Suki. Saw some AMAZING giant cartoony lion drinking fountains. Went back to the hotel and relaxed a bit, then went to the Met for the day. It was AWESOME! We looked at China, Japan, a special exhibit called Beyond Babylon, the music rooms, a special exhibit of bronze sculptures, and then we had some lunch in the cafeteria. We went into the museum store after for at least an hour! It was crazy! Bought some books. Went back to the hotel and chilled, and then went to dinner at the Yaffa Cafe on St. Marks for dinner. Just had some burgers and salad and delicious desserts! Met up with Miss Jenny Brown for a few, and then had a date with a bottle of wine in our bed. It was such a great day. Sunday, we got up and got stuck in the elevator for a few minutes! We were worried it was going to be longer... It just stopped dead on the way down and the lights started flashing. Scary. It was only like 5 minutes before it kicked in again down to the 7th floor- we got out and took the stairs! Went to Brooklyn Bagel again for breakfast and then walked over to that bakery again- it's called Billy's Bakery and it's AMAZING! SO cute. Everything is jadeite green. They had adorable vintage inspired wallpaper, vintage tables, everything was so fucking cute- looks just like a 50s bakery. AND it was delicious to boot. We got 4 cupcakes. I ate a red velvet one on the walk home- it was so fresh and warm and delicious. I can't even stand it. Grabbed our stuff at the hotel and went to Grand Central for the ride back to Stamford. Stopped at Ikea in New Haven on the way back to check out beds. We weren't really stoked on anything, I must say. Got new sheets and pillows anyway which were awesome to sleep on last night! Got home around 6, Glen made dinner, and we watched crappy tv and drank red wine. A really great fucking weekend. For reals.
Now I have to prepare for Economics tonight. We had a test last week; we should get them back today. I either did pretty good or pretty terrible. Ick. I should be all caught up for that class though after tonight and next week is spring break! My other class though... man. I am a little behind in the reading, which I need to catch up on before Wednesday, and I need to prepare for the midterm. OH and I need to try to read for and write an 8 page paper for Wednesday night. I have today, tomorrow and Wednesday off... but let's face it, I'm fucked.
aaaghhh okay. enough procrastinating.
